1497 Bolzanio: Institutiones Graecae grammatices.
This book is part of Aldus’ campaign to help teach Ancient Greek: a ‘grammar’ book or textbook explaining the structure of the language. The author is Urbano da Belluno – or as he was known, Bolzanio – who had a school in Venice in Aldus’ day and was among Aldus’ circle of friends.
In the Preface, Aldus dedicates this book to Giovanni Francesco Pico della Mirandola, the nephew of the great humanist scholar Giovanni Pico della Mirandola (1463–1494). Aldus knew both the elder Pico – an early colleague and supporter – and his nephew well.
